[pptp-server] PoPToP CTRL Troubles

I had the same problem.. Brought my system to a crawl..  I never got an
answer from the list, but I did move to V1.1.1 and recompile pppd to the
latest version.
The problem has not reoccured since.. BTW: I am using the MPPE patches..
