[pptp-server] Trouble with mschap-v2 on win 98

I applied the patches for mschap-v2 and mppe encryption to ppp-2.3.8.  I
have found that windows 98 clients negotiate the old mschap and mppe,
but not the new mschap-v2.  After that, I get lots of unknown protocol
messages from the pppd daemon on linux and the link does not appear to
work.  I believe it is due to the fact that it is not using mschap-v2 to
establish the keys for the encyrption.

I tried the exact same setup under windows 95 with the Dun 1.3 updates
and it worked perfectly.  The only difference being that it indicated it
had negotiated mschap-v2 properly.

Any ideas?

Also has anyone had success compiling the lzs compression module I found
in the patch, I would be interested in getting it working.
