[pptp-server] PPTP not starting pppd

Have you verified with an NT client that the remote PPTP server is fully
functional through your connection path?

The symptoms you report remind me of problems we see when either the client
or server is not fully or directly connected to the internet. In our case,
the PPTP server appears to be OK but the session cannot run because of
firewall obstructions (client or server side) or NAT (PAT, to be more
precise) is in use.
