Sounds like you might not have "noauth" in the PPP options for your
_outgoing_ PPP.  Without the "noauth" the PPP will try to authenticate the
other side (regardless of who called who).  If the called side is not set
up to authenticate itself back to the calling side then this eror will
result.

REALLY IMPORTANT: do NOT put "noauth" in PPP options for incoming calls
(e.g. the PPP options associated with PoPToP - you really don't want to
accept incoming PPTP sessions without authenticating them, do you?).
