try flushing all your firewall rules and trying again.. just to be sure.

hmm
had a better look at your symptoms.. it appears that everything is getting
through ok (ppp was able to authenticate)

it looks to be dying on the ppp options side - maybe it cant have some
option it needs? try fiddling with the settings on the client side.. also a
dump of your server ppp config file would be nice.. and debug output from
pppd =)
