Sorry, patch and compile the kernel (this is what happens when your on the
phone, drinkin' coffee and talking to your customers at the same time.
Suprisingly I didn't say "PPTP" over the phone to the customer by mistake
ey!?)...

thanks,

When you say "pptpd and linux pptp client" are you also meaning that the
pptpd is linux as well

If you want MPPE support and fixes for CHAP and other things then YEAH you
need to patch...

Subject: [pptp-server] 2.2.17 Kernel/Mandrake 7.2

Dear all

I wonder if you can help me.

I have two identical high-spec PCs, each running Mandrake 7.2, with the
2.2.17 Kernel, and a pair of Cisco 1700 routers.

As my final project for my MSc, I am setting up VPNs using

a) pptpd and Linux PPTP client, and
b) pppd and ssh.

My question is: Will I need to modify/recompile the kernel in any way for
either of these scenarios?

Thanks for your help (I'm afraid I'll be asking for more over the coming
weeks!),

Ken John BSc CCNA
