It is often possible to run particular protocols only on specific interfaces. 
 Perhaps this might be the route to go.  Run only tcp/ip on the pptp 
interface, and keep ipx for the application (and game!).

However, I am suspcious about the application.  Everything speaks tcp/ip 
nowadays.  Getting the configuration right can be a pain for some though.
