[pptp-server] pppd.2.4.1 fails where pppd.2.3.11 worked. Why? (fwd)

pppd 2.4.0+ is for the linux 2.4 kernels.  pppd 2.3.x is for the 2.2 kernels. 
 The patches are different, as are the steps to get it working.
