Edit ppp.c. Find the below and make the change at line approx 2563:

Change:
 kill_fasync (ppp->tty->fasync, SIGIO);

to:
kill_fasync (ppp->tty->fasync, SIGIO, POLL_IN);

RedHat 6.2 and 7.0. Harv Frost pointed out a patch that fixes a compilation
problem:
