Don't use sync.

The PPTP server presumable has to do what the PPTP client does, which is
re-encapsulate from asynchronous HDLC to GRE and vice-versa.  Last I
checked, it doesn't handle sync.

Why would you want to use synchronous HDLC serial encoding?
