I had forgotten to update my password in /etc/ppp/options. I'm calling a
server running NT. Now the log looks like this:

  Jul 26 16:55:08 ork (unknown)[5845]: log[pptp_dispatch_ctrl_packet:pptp_ctrl.c:531]: Client connection established.
  Jul 26 16:55:09 ork (unknown)[5845]: log[pptp_dispatch_ctrl_packet:pptp_ctrl.c:637]: Outgoing call established.
  Jul 26 16:55:09 ork pppd[5848]: pppd 2.3.10 started by root, uid 0

  Jul 26 16:55:12 ork pppd[5848]: remote IP address 192.168.1.236

  Jul 26 16:55:13 ork (unknown)[5845]: log[pptp_conn_close:pptp_ctrl.c:275]: Closing PPTP connection
  Jul 26 16:55:43 ork pppd[5848]: CCP: timeout sending Config-Requests

LEGEND
12.34.56.1, eth1 = my humble client cable modem
192.168.1.* = the remote network I'm trying to connect to

(Actually this is the second time I've done it this boot-up. The first
time it used ppp0, and though I did "ifconfig ppp0 down", it didn't
recycle the interface this time)
