If your users wish to browse the local network (i.e. use Network
Neighbourhood to see other Windows/Samba servers), then you will need a WINS
server. You can either use an NT box to do this or, I believe, your Samba
server.

You don't need a WINS server to map drives under Windows, just to browse the
network neighbourhood. I think..... ;-)

remove IPX and Netbeui as protocols in your network panel, that's usually
the best thing to do.  You can also remove the bindings for Windows
Networking from IPX and Netbeui and only have it bind to TCP/IP if for
some reason you need IPX around (ie, for Doom).

there's no reason whatsoever to have Netbeui installed at all, AFAICT.
