[pptp-server] Inner workings of DNS

Hey folks.
  Just looking for details on how DNS for poptop clients works.  I'm
curious to know how a [ping boxname] would know if it's looking on the
name server which is in the tcp/ip settings of the client or in the name
server which is passed to the client from the [ms-dns xx.xx.xx.xx] line in
the /etc/ppp/options files.
  I'd like to have poptop clients be able to see all of the boxes that are
on the same subnet as the VPN server by box name instead of IP.
