[pptp-server] 2.4 woes

try to start pppd from the shell and look if it outputs the
typical "ppp garbage". If it exits instead with an error message either
the pppd is not compiled with the 2.4x includes or the kernel
has not the needed options configured ( afair you need async_ppp driver)
