Hello everyone - I wonder if you can help me.
  I am running kernel 2.4.4, pppd 2.4.0, pptpd 1.1.2 and I have applied linux-2.4.0-openssl-0.9.6-mppe.patch and ppp-2.4.0-openssl-0.9.6-mppe.patch.

I have a Win98SE client with the DUN 1.4 update present.

The problem - the tunnel seems to work fine over long periods, until I turn on "Require Data Encryption" at the client. Then I get an Error: 742 on the client (Server does not support data encryption).

I have tried commenting and uncommenting all permutations of mppe-40, mppe-128 and mppe-stateless in /etc/ppp/options, but all I get in pptpd.log is:

  Jul 20 12:11:13 NewBox pppd[1953]: In file //etc/ppp/options: unrecognized option 'mppe-128' (or mppe-40 or mppe-stateless).

My hair is getting thinner by the minute - can you help?
