[pptp-server] A little speed please

Hi all;
Im using a local ISP to connect to our corporate server and then administer those server and sometime download data from a database server. 
Using WinNT as a client and Linux for the VPN server.
The connection are to slow!! a simple command like DIR takes 15 mins for 10 files!
i trace my connection and I got 13 hops.

Does anyone got any idea how to speed this up?
